Dawn Roth Lindell has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Western Area Power Administration since November 2013. In her role as Western’s CIO, Lindell leads over 200 technology team members managing both traditional and operational technology programs covering a 15 state area. An integral member of Western’s senior management team, she serves as an advisor to the Administrator and other Western executives on IT issues to improve business procedures and ensure cyber security and critical infrastructure protection. Her strengths in strategy and leadership help to create the future at Western.

Lindell joined Western from her position as the General Manager of IT Services at Colorado Springs Utilities where she led over 180 employees focused on every aspect of technology. Colorado Springs Utilities serves as a $1 billion dollar four-service (water, gas, electric and wastewater) utility and is a Western customer. Lindell is active in the Utilities’ information technology sector and has served as Chairman of the Large Public Power Council CIO organization, Chairman of the Pikes Peak Regional Communications Network Board and served on the board of the Water/Wastewater Forum. She was a founding member to the Western Cyber Exchange, an organization focused on public/ private partnership for effective cyber security in the west. Lindell began her career with Procter and Gamble in manufacturing management and has held a broad range of leadership positions in customer service, marketing, manufacturing and information technology across several business sectors. This diverse background enabled her to build relationships to bridge the long term gap between operations technology and information technology support, resulting in a zero findings Critical Infrastructure Protection audit at Colorado Springs Utilities.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an Information Systems-focused Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Lindell is known as a visionary leader with the unique combination of strong technical skills, high energy and a passion for serving people.
